TRS FORD FOCUS RACING TEAM WINS PTCC

Tuason Racing drivers Stuart MacDonald and Juny Binamira came up with a huge feat bagging a 1-2 finish recently in the fifth leg of the 2007 Philippine Touring Car Championship series at the Subic International Raceway.

Their performance further proved Ford Focus’ racing excellence even under wet track conditions.  Showing guts and determination, the two turned back the veteran and favored drivers in the Group 3 division to pull the huge feat for the Tuason Racing Team backed up by Petron Ultron, Ambi Pur, Schick, C! Magazine, Oakley, Rota Wheels, Tradeshow, Aguila Auto Glass, Acer, Starbright Body Kits, K & N Filters, Palmer Asia, A & R, Bilstein, Has Travel and Recaro.

“We’re very satisfied with the performance of MacDonald and Binamira that only proved the competitive quality of the Ford Focuses under the rain compared to the traditional racing car brands,” said Glen Dasig, AVP of Ford Group Philippines.

MacDonald, a British expat who copped the runner-up place in the morning race, kept solid grip of the lead throughout the race to snap Alvin Santos’ nine-race winning streak.

Binamira, seeing action only for the second time this season, displayed big improvement as he even took control of the lead before finishing the race just fractions of a second behind MacDonald.

Santos, who still lead the race for Rookie honors, made several attempts to slip past MacDonald and even went for a desperate dive on MacDonald at the bus stop on the fourth lap.

But the attempt backfired on Santos who was forced out of the race after hitting MacDonald’s back fender.

MacDonald went ahead but his car slowed down after the incident, while Binamira took the opportunity to wrest the lead.  However, a costly lapse by Binamira set the stage for MacDonald’s big win.
