TRS BET ESCALANTE BANNERS RP’S MINI-ROK HOPES IN ITALY ’S ROK WORLD CUP
Tuason Racing School protégé Basti Escalante leaves tomorrow to join the RP Team competing in the 2010 ROK Cup International Finals set October 14-17 at the South Garda Karting Circuit in Lonato.
Basti, son of famed gourmet restaurateurs, Chef Tony Boy and Agnes Escalante, aims to deliver the laurels for the country as he vies for the Mini-ROK crown with the big support of Tuason Racing School, Ready2Race, OMP and his individual sponsors Audi, Transnational Diversified Group, Werdenberg International Corp.,Bridgestone, Puma, Coke Zero, Castrol, Bank of Commerce, Emcor, KServico, Washington Watches and Philippine Star
The Grade 6 De La Salle-Zobel student will be going up against the bests from the Southeast Asian region including James William Christopher Wei Pull of Malaysia and Maximilian Fewtrell, the top two title contenders holding 72 and 68 points respectively.
Missing action in the Macau and Indonesian legs of this prestigious event, Escalante hopes to put up a competitive quality performance banking in the lessons learned from the TRS-Racing Career Management Program (TRS-RCMP) that helped boost his campaign in the local series.
He currently lead the Mini-ROK title race with a total of 389 points or a 10-point margin over Aira Medrano going into the championship round later this month at the Carmona Circuit Philippines.
“I’ll give it my best. This is one of the rare opportunities to fight for our flag and despite our lean five-man Philippine Team, we want to show that Filipinos are equally competitive up against the world’s best,” said Escalante.
Basti will be accompanied by TRS Vice president of Operations and personal coach Mike Tuason who supervised his strict physical and racing regimen under the TRS-RCMP which was patterned after training programs used by F1 Drivers.
“The local series proved how far Basti has improved. He has shown the heart, the determinations and the competitive skills in the past races so we’re confident Basti will make a good impression in the event,” said Tuason.
