JP Tuason has been involved in the motorsports and automotive industry for over 22 years. He understands the challenges and excitement of racing first hand, having won three local karting championships and representing the Philippines in numerous international events including the World Finals in Japan and Egypt.
JP moved on to compete in rallyecross and touring cars. Several more titles followed including the novice driver of the year award. JP then made the jump to Formula cars, backed by Toyota and Tag Heuer. This successful step up produced numerous podium finishes and wins at the Shell-Filinvest Grand Prix in the Philippines and the Asian Formula Challenge in China. In 2003, at age 27, JP broke through to Formula 3 and has been a regular in the Asian Formula 3 series competing in Japan, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. In 2005 and 2006 wins came from races in China and Philippine F3 races.
A firm believer in the continuous pursuit of knowledge, JP has attended top racing schools in the U.S. where he received advanced instruction from world-famous institutions such as Skip Barber Racing School, Bob Bondurant and BMW M Driver Training. This training and knowledge led to the vision and successful introduction of the Tuason Racing School.
Another aspect of JP’s motoring career is in promoting Road Safety and Defensive Driving. Over the last 8 years JP has trained with the US National Safety Council on Defensive Driving, Luxembourg National Driving Academy and the Peugeot Road and Rally School. JP gained valuable experience working with Ford Philippines, its dealerships and local insurance companies. Over 20,000 participants have attended driver training seminars lectured by JP in the last 8 years.
Prior to founding the Tuason Racing School, JP began his corporate career as VP Marketing for MixitColour Systems, a company specializing in providing European automotive paint and technical and paint contracting services. His customers included more than 20 automotive manufacturers and dealers, including Toyota Quezon City, Honda Makati, Ford Balintawak and Volvo Makati. In 1998, Mixit was acquired by Akzo Nobel, a multi-billion dollar Dutch company. At Akzo Nobel Philippines, JP was national sales manager until 2002, where he was responsible for business development, managing a staff of 14 and 35 customers.
JP graduated from De La Salle University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He has been married for 10 years to Jeanette Ipapo-Tuason, Vice President for TRS & DDA for Marketing and Business Development. They have 2 kids, Arthur, 10 and Alysha, 5.
