TRS-FORD CUP: BOREN, JALANDONI LED WINNERS IN FORD FOCUS CUP ULTIMATE CHALLENGE

The trio of top female driver Pia Boren and newcomers Dominic Samson and Gibson Yu proved to be a perfect combination as they turned back equally tough rivals to rule the TRS-Ford Focus Cup Ultimate Challenge recently at the Subic International Raceway.

Strategy played a big role in winning the Endurance Challenge. Boren started the campaign and pulled a big margin over the rivals as Samson and Yu later took turns at the wheels before claiming the checkered flag of this event organized by the Tuason Racing Schoool.

The three completed a total of 138 laps in this four-hour race  powered by Ford, Petron Ultron, Ambi Pur, Schick, Standard Insurance, Goodyear, C! Magazine, Oakley, Rota Wheels, Tradeshow International, Aguila Auto Glass, Acer, Strabright Body Kits, K&N Filters, Palmer Asia, H&R Bilstein  and  Has Travel.           

Racing engineer Pacho Blanco, together with Kim Liu and Michael Lhuillier, bagged the runner-up finish tallying 134 laps in the four-hour run while Matthew Edmunds and newcomers Arnie Alafriz and Alfonso Tuason took third laps after accomplishing 128 laps.
Jed Jalandoni, who emerged the 5th TRS-C! Magazine Top Driver Challenge champion, posted the fastest laptime of 1:51.69 as he captured the Ford Focus Cup Novice crown in the Sprint category over Kim Liu and third placer Arnie Alafriz.

Dominic Samson likewise clinched the Rookie title in the Sprint category over Quincy Buenaflor and third placer Michael Lhuillier, who was supposed to be second but was slapped with a 10-second penalty for hitting a pylon.

Glen Dasig, AVP of Ford Group Philippines, was elated over the outcome of the event that proved to be a big testament to the durability of the Ford Focus.

“No Ford Focus car broke down in the races, which only proved that our car is driver-friendly even for first time drivers competing in such tough endurance racing.  And we’re happy over this innovation of Tuason Racing school in coming up with different kinds of competition to promote racing to more enthusiast,” said Dasig.

The TRS –Ford Focus Ultimate challenge is the latest evolution of the successful TRS circuit car championship series which was showcased celebrity and media competition earlier this year.
