Once again, Tuason Racing School and Ford converted one of the barren open space at the Fort Golbal City into one of the Biggest spectacle in the Motoring industry, Round One of The TRS Ford Focus Cup Rally Challenge dubbed 'Fast Cars and Stars'. Two identical Rally courses were set up to be the stage of the highly anticipated 'Fast Car' – the Ford Focus TDCI turbo Diesel. The TRS Ford Focus Cup challenge is done in three legs where qualifiers during Round 1 will move into a circuit car training and a full blown wheel to wheel racing with the TRS Ford Focus race cars at the Subic international raceway, The Champion gets a trip to the World Rally Cup in Great Britain, rubbing elbows with Ford Rally driver Marcus Gronholm and the rest of the Team RS.

This year, the event was extended into three days in order to accommodate more people who wanted to get involved in the activities. Openning the Event was Ford Group Philippines President Rick Baker and Ford Marketing Director Vinay Piparsa doing the ceremonial flag off to offficially start the competiton.

On the Second day, Media and Celebrity participants came to conquer with an impressive attendance of more than 120 competitors. Coming into the competition were celebrities Marc Nelson, Phoemela Baranda, Dominica Ochoa, media personalities Jinno Rufino, Cito Beltran, competition veteran Former Press Secretary Mike Toledo and restaurateur Louie Ysmael. Also present were Vice Governor Marc Leviste and Counclilor Joseph Juico trying their luck for the second time. The so-called 'old men against young men' rivalry came to play when Jinno Rufino came against Louie Ysmael prompting Cito Beltran to annouce 'old men rule’. When Beltran came against the Younger Ochoa, Psy war came into play when Beltran told the latter that he will be driving like Miss Daisy and should be no problem for the younger guy, the problem was Cito didn’t exactly say which Miss Daisy. But both age groups came into equal footing during the finals where Raffy Santos finished with a time of 55:05 seconds. Coming in second place, with 54:28 seconds, is Louie Ysmael, and finally, coming in at first place, with a daunting time of 54:12 seconds, is actor Dominic Ochoa. Being the first placer, Ochoa was quick to quip, “practice makes perfect” and wasted no time in soliciting kisses from the lovely models.

The prizes include premium brands such as Dolce & Gabbana gift packs for all placers, Oakley shades for third, Asian Spirit tickets to anywhere in the Philippines for second, and a set of Goodyear Eagle One tires for the first placer.

The media category saw the emergence of different personnel from various publications that was there for bonding and camaraderie. All sort of side betting and head to head challenges were issued all around trying to get Philippine Star Editor Dong Magsajo, against Manila Times Columnist Vernon Sarne and the Usual Brand C againts Brand T. The hype emanated from the support of the well-attended group, with Jeff Reyes from Philippine Star taking third place, Johnsy Reyes at second, and Beeboy Vargas from Top Gear clinching the first place.

Ford’s Fast Cars & Stars was definitely a huge success, and it would not have been made possible by the help of  the event partners and sponsors Petron Ultron, Ambi Pur, Schick, Standard Insurance, Goodyear, C! Magazine, Oakley, Rota Wheels, Tradeshow, Aguila Auto Glass, Acer, Strabright Body Kits, K & N Filters, Palmer Asia, A & R, Bilstein, and Has Travel.   According To Glen Dasig, Brand Manager of Ford Focus, 'we are trying to give the consumer a real feel of the exhiliration of driving this car and we fell we have achieve this with the record breaking attendance during this event.'
